This should get me caught up.
I also expect this weekend to be full of lots of fun, so I might finally have some great pictures to share. I swear, Al is here with me and we ARE having fun together.
Day 18: My Favorite Birthday
Phew. I don't know that I have one. I've had a couple great birthdays in my life, surrounded by family and friends, but I don't have one in particular that jumps out at me.
When I was 16, we rented a hotel and my girlfriends and I spent the day shopping at the Mall of America and then ordered pizza in the hotel. I also got my first cell phone.
My 21st was...well...a 21st birthday. I drank way too much. I probably should have been in the hospital. Instead, I ended up passing out in my class the next day (after handing in my final paper.) It wasn't pretty. But it was fun.
This past year was great. A bunch of my friends and I went to dinner and a comedy show. We had a great time drinking and laughing and we had incredible food.
All in all, I've had many great birthdays. I hope to have many, many more.
Day 19: Something I Regret
I don't have regrets. I don't believe in them.
It's not because I haven't made mistakes. God knows, I have.
It's because all the decisions I've made in my life: good, bad and downright stupid, were all for a reason. At the time, I wanted to make them; needed to make them. In the end, they were part of the "plan" for my life.
The idiot I lost my virginity to. The misstep I took in getting to college (which miserably failed.) Some of the decisions I made IN college. That "experiment" I tried. The "friends" I made (who weren't friends at all.)
And all the things that have happened in my life, have been for a reason. I am who I am because of them. I know what I know because I made those mistakes. And I wouldn't do any of it over.
Rascal Flatts - "Bless the Broken Road":
"I set out on a narrow way, many years ago,
Hoping I would find true love, along the broken road.
But I got lost a time or two,
Wiped my brow, kept pushing through.
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you.
Every long lost dream, that led me to where you are,
Others who broke my heart, they were like Northern Stars,
That pointed me on my way, into your loving arms.
This much I know is true,
God blessed the broken road, that led me here to you."
I have no regrets.
