What I Love About My Man: Week 1

What I Love About My Man...

Is when he says just the right thing at just the right time.

The story:

You might remember the problems I've been having with my sister. And OF COURSE you remember that Al and I moved up our wedding and having a small legal ceremony in February.
With all the stuff my sister is going through, she is having a really difficult time being involved in the wedding and keeping positive about someone else's life.

It might affect whether or not she is even there for the ceremony.

Shortly after a conversation with her the other day, I was pretty upset.
We've been running around looking at possible times to have it and where to have it, just to accommodate her schedule. Somehow, with everything she is going through she has turned even the one day that is supposed to be about me, into something about her.

And I was pissed.

I called Al and he patiently listened to my complaining, my cursing, my yelling and my crying. "My whole life has been about her. My whole life the world has revolved around that girl. And on the ONE day it's supposed to be about me, it is somehow still about her!?!" I said.

And his quiet reply: "It's still about you. You are going through all this trouble because on YOUR day you want YOUR sister to be there. YOU know that having her there matters to YOU. These sacrifices are being made so YOU can have the happy day that you want. It's not about her happiness, it's about yours."

That is what I love about my man.

What do you love about yours?
Link up and tell me.

A New Series

I would like to start a series/meme/segment about the wonderful men that we support in this carzy, mixed-up ride of military life!

I'll call it:
What I love about my man

Now, I need a few things from you.

One, I need someone who is willing/able to make me a button for the meme. I could figure it out but simply don't have the time. If someone is able to volunteer a bit of time to do it, I will send you a goodie as a thank you!

Second, I need volunteers to submit stories.
Basically, each week I will post a question/theme/topic and ask for stories you have about you and your man that fit in that theme. You will be able to post the stories on your blog and link up to a linky-list I will create.

I will start this Thursday with a story about Al and myself and pose the topic/theme for your links. I will leave it open for the weekend to share and close it Sunday nights.

Hopefully we can share some fun stories and enjoy learning a little more about each other and our men!

Pillow Talk

OK...so the "official" pillow talk is over, I have something too funny not to share...

After getting a little emotional that Al was off having fun when I wasn't able to be there, I decided it was silly and petty and he needed time to release stress/vent/get shit-faced.
Before I went to bed, the following text conversation ensued:

Me: Hope you're having fun tonight. Maybe you can actually sleep well for the first time in 9 months. If you need any inspiration, I give you full permission to think of lots of dirty things we can do together when you're home.

Al: Don't worry, I had enough dirty thoughts of you for the last 7 months to last a lifetime.

Me: Well, then it's a good thing we've got a lifetime to try them all out.

Al: Very true, we have a lot to talk about involving that when I get home... Can't wait.

Me: Good things?

Al: Absolutely. And they are looking forward. I'm thinking we should get professional photos taken.

Me: Things like that happen for engagements.

Al: Well, not engagement photos because we're not engaged. Just photos.

Now tell me what he's going to do with professional photos? He's such a silly (and yet oddly romantic and charming) man sometimes. But, he's mine.

Pillow Talk #3: Handsome Head

Al was relaying this story to me earlier regarding a conversation he had with his XO.

Al: We talk about you a lot. Mostly dealing with money and our future.

Me: Oh that's nice that you can talk to him about that.

Al: Yeah, except he told me to run because of all your school debt.

Me: Well, that's less nice.

Al: And then today something weird happened...

{silence}

Al: He mentioned that he wants to shave his head, short like mine

Me: OK

Al: And he wanted my opinion, because some guys don't look right that way

{silence}

Al: And then he gave me a once-over and said, "See, you have a handsome head."

Me: **Laughing hysterically** What did you say?

Al: I told him he broke the guy-code. That you don't compliment another guys head.

Me: You told your XO that?

Al: Yes

Me: What did he say back?

Al: Nothing. Just laughed it off. And I left.

{hours later we're having another conversation - which started with a lengthy discussion of attraction and how guys talk about girls}

Al: So, where do I fit on your looks chart?

{I explained to him how I have always been attracted to clean-cut, suit-wearing guys, but realized that it was a strict physical attraction and I was actually much more attracted to rugged, manly guys.}

Al: Yeah, well I was only attracted to super models until I met you...Hold on, let me turn my attractive side to you.

{turns to show me his handsome head}

Funny, funny guy, huh!?

Pillow Talk: Session 2

Conversation had over web-cam
Time: Minnesota, 16:18 - Iraq, 00:18

Me: Do we need to switch to typing so your roommate can sleep?

Him: No, I don't care if he's sleeping

Me: Ok...

**After a few minutes of talking, I get a message**

Him: I love you

Me: Why couldn't you say that out loud?
**Not saying I love you too**

Him: I'm being quiet 'cause my roommate's sleeping
Turns out I'm not a heartless bastard

Me: Prove it

Him: I'm a heartless bastard when it comes to you, because you stole my heart
**I did eventually return the love**

He's a big dork (sometimes even a big a**hole), but most of the time he's a total sap!
He continues to say sweet things even when I usually just groan and roll my eyes.
Eh, I not-so-secretly love it though...who wouldn't?!

Pillow Talk: Session 1

I joined the Pillow Talk weekend session at The Wifey Blogs a couple of days ago, but I didn't want to link and start it up without having a great PT conversation to share. And lo and behold, today I had a webcam conversation with Al that's just too funny not to share.
(Check out the button on the side of my blog if you would like to join!)

Today - 1600 here, 0100 in Iraq - the following conversation occurred:

Me: I don’t know why you help him with that…

Him: Because he pays me in Monsters, how can I turn that down?

Me: You’re easily bought.

Him: Yeah…

Me: So if a woman came in with a case of Monsters and asked to have sex with you, would you?

Him: Are they ice cold?

**we both laugh**

Him: You should get a tattoo of the Monster logo on you

Me: Should I get that next to the Coors Light logo?

Him: Yes

Me: On my butt cheek?

Him: Yes! And then we should see if they have ink that turns blue when it’s cold!
