Milspouse Friday Fill-in

I wanted to stop in momentarily before I embark on a ridiculously busy weekend in which I hope to get a lot of homework done in time to watch the Superbowl on Sunday. 

1. What is your favorite winter memory?

We used to sled down the hill in my Grandparent's back yard. They were on a hill and we would build a big ramp and line the sides with hay bales and shovel the snow up. It was basically like a luge shoot and we would fly down the hill and clear across the lake.

2. What is your current favorite TV show?

I watch The Walking Dead every Sunday and I am very excited for the Army Wives season premier on March 4!

3. What was your favorite thing that happened in January?

My one-year anniversary - although it passed uneventfully, it was a special milestone nonetheless.

4. What is the best sound in the world?

Sound? Gah, I don't know. I love music and laughter and nature. I think the list of sounds I don't like (my alarm clock, the doorbell when I'm fresh out of the shower and the sound of my professor's voice) is much easier to delineate!

5. What is the biggest lesson you have learned as a Milspouse?

This might seem like a gimmie answer, but I have learned not to sweat the small stuff. There are so few things I can really control when it comes to the Army and my long-distance marriage. Don't let your heart (or head) get weighed down by the little things; focus on what matters and relish the good stuff!

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in

I slept in on this fall morning, letting the cool breeze in through the open window and wrapping up tight in my fleece blanket. I didn't even have to move to get my coffee (because my mother really, really likes me - Thanks, mom.) Seriously. This morning = bliss.

So, I am lazily getting ready to start the day and thought I would answer the MFF from Wife of a Sailor. I hope you're enjoying your Friday morning as much as I am.

1. My favorite thing that happened this week was this morning. 'Nuff said.

3. Autumn is officially here and my favorite part of the season is every wonderful second of it!
4. One of the things I’d like to do before winter arrives is make a leaf pile, like I did when I was a kid and dive in!.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in

Now that I've launched my new blog, I have been struggling to keep this one interesting. It doesn't help that I leave Texas in 2 weeks and am trying to soak up as much time with Al as possible. Today, I am going to do the Friday Fill-in and this weekend I have a couple of fun, new posts to share. So bare with me, stick around, and I promise to make it worth your visit!

1. Do you eat raw cookie dough?
Yes. I haven't recently, but when I was a teen, my sister and I would often share some moments over a package of Nestle Tollhouse Break-n-Bake Cookie Dough! Yumm!

2. When you get online for the first time of the day… what site do you immediately head to?
I check my e-mail (both accounts) then check Facebook. Next is usually Blogger, my Google Reader, and any other sites that strike my fancy.

3. What was your favorite pet as a child and why?
We never had pets in our home until I was in high-school. My mom got a cat and my sister got a ferret. Neither of them were all that exciting to me. Although when I was younger, I found a dog at a flea market (it was the runt and the last one in the crate) and convinced my grandma to bring him home. He's a 12lb., Yorkie-Poo-Terrier, with an overbite and a crooked ear. And yet, he's my favorite little dog in the world!

4. If you had a snail that could magically grant wishes, what would you name it?
A snail that grants wishes? Since his talents are so extraordinary I would give him an ordinary name like Joe. (Yeah, don't have me name stuff...)

5. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?

I have no idea. I don't like Tootsie Rolls so I can't say I've ever really tried.

I'm brain-fried, so you get this today.

Oh, and I'm fully aware that my meme lasted a total of ONE week. I'm cool like that.

I might keep up on it, but let's be real, there is A LOT going on right now.

What do you usually want to know about someone when meeting them for the first time?

It really depends. Most likely, I want to know that they are a good person. If so, we can hang.

Would you rather know everything about your spouse, or be regularly surprised?

I think you have to know the important stuff: kids, money, future, etc... But a little surprise is good. Keeps things interesting. I love finding out things that make me love him more.

If you could live in one city for the rest of your life, where would you live?

I don't think I could narrow it to city, but I would definitely stay in Minnesota. It's home. Even when it's god-awful cold and our sports teams always suck. It's still where I want to be. The list of places I want to travel to is a mile long, however.

When you go out of town, what one material thing do you ALWAYS take?

Hair straightener. I assume you don't mean clothes and shoes and the like. Yeah, hair straightener.

Friday Fill-In

I am up to my ears, eyeballs and neck in finals and just am not able to give a full post today. I do have an interesting post rolling around in my head for the weekend, but I've got to get through the muckety-muck of Constitutional Law and Agency first.

So, without further adieu, my Friday Fill-in Answers:

1. If you were given $1000 right now, how would you spend it?

Savings. Lame, I know, but this girl has a lot of school debt and is saving for a wedding.

2. If you had to choose a movie title (a real one that already exists) for your life story, what would it be?

Oh geez, I don't know that I can answer this. I just can't think of one!

3. If you were a teacher, what subject would you like to teach?

Civics or Social Studies. Although, I've actually considered teaching at the college or law school level at some point.

4. Has being a Milspouse changed your views of the holidays? If so, how?

I don't know if it's changed per se, but I definitely appreciate certain things more. Like the fact that I will spend Christmas with my man for the first time in 3 years. And how that is so much more important then food and gifts.

5. What is your favorite Christmas memory?

It would have to be when I was a kid and my Grandparents still lived in Germany. Oma would send us wooden shadow boxes that she turned into December advent calendars and each day would have a gift, treat or toy in it. It was really awesome!

1. Were you named after anyone?

Not that I know of. I think my first and middle names were simply names my mother and father liked.

2. What color, if any, are your toenails usually painted?

A variety of colors. In the summer I go for light, fun and bright colors. In the winter I like dark jewel tones like cranberries and Christmas red.

3. How do you flush a public toilet? Hands? Feet? Something else?

With my hand. I worry more about using a towel AFTER I've washed my hands then I do before.

4. When you were a little kid, which TV character did you have a crush on?

Definitely Jonathan Taylor Thomas or JTT

(Known best as Randy on Home Improvement and the voice of kid Simba on the Lion King)

5. Let's say you had to lose one of your five sense (sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.) Which one would you choose? Why?

Smell. Between sinus infections and living in a state where the climate changes frequently and drastically, I rarely have a good sense of smell anyway.
